1 Corinthians 16:13 - Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
Now there's a difficult verse when it comes to eating the right amount of food, the right types of food, and exercising the right amount of time. We must, as the verse says, focus - quit you like men - and be strong. It is a hard thing to stay focused and be strong, at least for me, when it comes to food. It is as I have "joked" before "I didn't get this size because I have discipline." While I have said that in jest, it holds truth as well. We must stand fast , stay focused and be strong.
I was talking to someone the other day that was asking how to be focused and I told them that what I have done in the past that has helped me is to put it as simply as I can. When I look at a cookie, piece of pizza, cheeseburger, french fries, etc. I say "That is sin!" and try to leave. "Flee youthful lusts." Now while the food is not sin in and of itself it is certainly a temptation to eat wrong or too much. I have struggled myself with looking at something as physical as eating and saying it applies spiritually. The fact is, however, that EVERY aspect of life no matter how physical has a spiritual effect. Once we grasp that idea it will become a little easier to fight this war on weight. Go forward this week as a person that focused for battle and attack that "sin".
